I always bring my professional and academic experiences into the classroom, not just as theories, but as practical insights and skills obtained through real projects and mentorship. While having a solid foundation of knowledge/experience is always necessary for a start, I believe it is crucial to be flexible and allow the philosophy to evolve. My teaching experience includes visual communication design, UI/UX design and creative storytelling. In my courses at the University of California, Davis and The University of Texas at El Paso, students designed products, interfaces, brands and campaigns. Here are some examples from my Digital Product Design course. In this class, we first research to identify the problem, then in the ideation process, define what the plausible/possible solution could look like, and finally begin to design based on the user needs/experience and the information we gathered.
